abstract embellishing

Last week, I dreamed that I took my young twins to an indoor flea market where I was beckoned to a booth by none other than Frank Zappa. He held out a book titled,  " 100 Embroidery Stitches You should Know", saying, " I've been holding on to this for you." Lol.....
I believe there is such a book title by Judith
Baker Montano or at least close to it but I wasn't aware at the time. Infact I purchased her Free Form Embroidery title instead and am using it for this abstract.
At any rate, this cloth is an upholstery sample that I've owned a long time. I have no idea on how old it is, who designed it or who manufactured it. I do know that its a pleasure to embroider. I feel freer to make mistakes over this print as I learn new stitches. And I love the color scheme
I think Frank might approve as well;)
What do you think? Are you working on something you would like to share?

  1. Love the printed fabric Linda, and wonderful that you are so enjoying your embroidery experience. Just as I am enjoying my painting and model making.. :-)
Looking back I thought I had commented on your last post but its empty so obviously I did not press publish or something ..

I think Frank would most definitely approve...
I am working on a new canvas.. but gave up to day because of poor light.. We are in another storm of wet and windy weather, They have named it storm Georgina .. I was very gusty this morning but its died down a little now..
But a weird dark almost reddish tinge to the sky that just gives me the creeps.. Something not quite right for mid afternoon..
Any how.. Sending Huge Hugs and Loved your little squares on your previous post xxx

    2. Hi Linda.. the Red sky, we don't know.. Just a peculiar sky not normal as it was heavy with cloud.. Never worry about replies Linda, I fully understand.. Just log in when you feel like it..
I have been painting a Leopard.. its spots are taking some working out especially around its head.. I may post on my gardening blog a picture I took two days ago.. I have done more spots since them.. But I am afraid I will mess it up.. So taking my time with it..

Keep creating.. I feel we are meant to.. xxxx <3 Hugs

    3. I can imagine how hard that can be. Can you pencil them in lighy before painting? I wanted to do a jaguar but Im not very confidant yet. Spots us perspective of tge spots. Alot of thinking. I will come and have a look today. I only worry about sky color when tbe very air turns pea green. Tornado or microbursts usually follow. I have not seen red outside of sunsets.

  2. I loved hearing about your dream. It's as vibrant as your chosen embroidery fabric. It's great to see you, enjoying crafting again! At the moment, I'm working on the abstractify course (as you know) but I also have another crafting venture plan, up my sleeve too. I have to organise a few tools before I can get started though. I'll reveal more when I actually have something to show, lol. Otherwise I'm all smoke, but no cigar. ;)

    2. It's amazing what a birthday deadline, will make you do! And she was embarrassed about what her adolescent friends, would make of her existing "kittens" blanket. Mum to the rescue, with a sewing machine! Although, I would not want to do that particular kind of time trial again, lol. More time, is better!!
